I too am finding it terribly difficult to understand what seems as though it
should be a simple thing. In a similar vein as the above poster.

I have a support e-mail box that is now filling up with ping down and clears.
Basically I have a class of xp machines that I want to log if they go down in
zenoss but unless they go down for a LONG time, like 30 plus minutes, i don't
want an e-mail.

I don't have any alert rules setup for ping and I don't have any event rules.
Just the admin user setup with an e-mail address and whooooosh... millions of
alerts from zenoss whenever an XP machines so much as burps. Love the software
but please someone help me cut down the noise.

also in the above mentioned class, all the devices are production/ trivial. I
thought that might cut down on the chatter but it doesn't seem to be.

Am I way off base here? I just want to tell zenoss to hush a little .... keep
logging the up downs.... but hush.

 Thanks for any assistance...

Mr Johnathan Bravo

P.S. my perl is abysmal so if I can do it in the GUI that would be the
best/easiest.
