Great that you casted your vote about this. People like you are essential to growing a project and community like ZeroMQ. I'm very sure your legacy will live on but damn you will be missed.

Pieter, I'm very happy to have met you and you have inspired me in so many ways. Man, I was stuck with technical bullshit until I found your book about ZeroMQ. The best thing I can say is, know that your message will live on. What's worth more than knowing to have been an inspiration and teacher to others.

Arnaud

Great choice!

I personally didnt have the pleasure of working with Doron but Im
looking forward to it. BTW Im expecting the new BDFL to merge my
Pull Requests within 30 seconds as well :P

Furthermore Id like to thank you Pieter for building this amazing
community and bringing all these awesome people here together. Thank
you for teaching me and probably many others to work together in a
never seen harmony (at least thats my impression) . I really enjoyed
working on various projects the past few years that Ive been part of
this community.

Ill definitely miss you!

P.S.: I like to pick up olantonans proposal on Hacker News to donate
some money to your three children. Everyone who likes to act on that
can send money to Pieters PayPal account at [email protected] [4]. (FYI

Friends,

You know Ive always steered our community with a light touch,
only intervening in case of the few disputes we get when bad
actors think they can waltz in and impose their egos. We agree
that our rules work and that those who understand and apply them
with the right mix of tolerance for error, and brutality towards
fraud, are the people I most closely cherish. Its not fair but
neither is life.

Sorry Ive spent a while on this problem. A community needs
someone to take the blame and some of the credit. An honest mix
of pride and respect for others. A stubborn bastard who nods and
lets you have lots of road just to hang you with if its needed.

And someone who can balance long term insane vision with
pragmatic slow progress, because they have already been there
and now wait with patience for the rest of us to catch up.

So without further ado Id like to hand the stage over to my dear
friend, Mr Did You Really Add UDP Support to Libzmq In One Day
Doron....  dramatic pause... SOMECH!!

Thank you for your votes, which I entirely ignored. :)

Pieter
