Mareppa charges Naidu with instigating MRPS

Special Correspondent

KURNOOL: Minister for Marketing and Warehousing M. Mareppa accused TDP
president N. Chandrababu Naidu of instigating the MRPS leadership into
violence to achieve their demand.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said the MRPS cadres turned
violent across the State only after Mr. Naidu conversed with MRPS
president Manda Krishna Madiga on the mobile phone. He said forces
opposing the Government were fomenting trouble by extending financial
assistance to the MRPS agitation. He wanted Mr. Krishna Madiga to know
the fact that only the Congress, which was in power could help the
Madigas with legislation.

Had the TDP been so sincere, it could have finalised the
categorisation of quota for SCs once for all. But the TDP made an ad
hoc arrangement, which brought the issue back to square one.

Mr. Mareppa said the MRPS movement was getting sidetracked as even
Madigas were unhappy with the kind of violence perpetrated by some in
the name of MRPS. Buses were burnt, train bogeys torched and even
passengers were robbed at some places.

Administers pledge

The Minister at another function administered a pledge against
terrorism and violence to a gathering in connection with 17th death
anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
