Lucknow : Chief Minister Mayawati today sent a stern warning to the SP
and additional SP of Bahraich and ordered immediate suspension of an
SHO, a sub-inspector (S-I) and a constable following alleged
harassment of a few Dalit families in the district.
Two Home Guards, also said to be involved in raids on the Dalit
families in Durgapurwa village on Friday night, were dismissed from
services and the circle officer of the Nanpara area was attached to
the DGP (Headquarters).

The CM has sent DGP Vikram Singh to Bahraich, who today met the victims.

ADG (Law & Order) Brij Lal said a police team of Nanpara led by S-I R
S Dwivedi, constable Dharmendra Chaturvedi and two Home Guards had
raided the houses of Ram Pheran, Indal, Phoolmati, Talukdei, Shanti
Dei and Jal Varsha. The police allegedly misbehaved with the women and
ransacked the house. The police had raided the houses searching for
male members, who were said to have attacked a woman neighbour,
Rajrani, over a dispute. Rajrani had lodged a complaint with the
police.

Bahraich SP O P Sagar has been asked to seek an explanation from ASP V

issued to the ASP be entered in his character roll for dereliction of
