Connecting with new readers, threats from the Internet, and citizen journalism are among the topics covered in the latest annual report from the World Editors Forum (WEF).

"Trends in Newsrooms 2006" aims to cover the evolution of newspapers and the challenges they face worldwide. The 150-page report is free for WEF members, or available for EU€139 (about US$175) for non-members. Discounts are available for academics and libraries. Several excerpts are available for free.

WEF, part of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN), is dedicated to senior newsroom editors around the world. Its annual report aims to track the trends that affect those editors most. Much of the report's material comes from the Editors Weblog, but there are additional essays and articles written by experts and experienced editors.

Annual membership in WEF costs EU€750. Besides the annual report, members get discounts to annual conferences and other events, plus other materials offering expertise on newsroom management.
