Newspapers around the world to commemorate International Literacy Day Region :Worldwide Country :None Topic :Access to Information
24/07/2008 The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) is now offering free materials for publication in newspapers around the world in celebration of World Literacy Day on September 8. The materials, which can be found on the WAN Web site, include comic strips from famous cartoonists and an eight-part children's story. Along with the free materials, WAN also encourages newspapers to develop their own cartoons with literacy themes. With immense illiteracy rates around the world, WAN hopes to encourage reading through the literacy day commemoration. For more information, visit http://www.wan-press.org/youngreader
