I am fascinated by the swift and sometimes testy comment on hypertextual poetry. Obviously a touchy subject.
Since I now find screen reading hard on the eyes I am happily printing off all the comments as they come in, to read and consider and eventually respond to, but today's flood caught me off balance. My printer is running red-hot and probably formulating testy comments of its own.
I must say I am not sure I would want somebody else tinkering with my work, but then I wouldn't post my poetry on such a site. Sites that offer a sensible (and sensitive) critique of work offered are both useful and interesting.
I found a site several years ago where the day's poem had multiple authors and developed in an interestingly fractal manner in the early stages. However, it had its drawbacks, ie it had a very uneven quality, and tended to become loose and meaningless. Unlike fractals no clear pattern developed as the poem progressed, perhaps because there was no moderator to draw the lose threads together - a problem with multiple authors. One author at least has to keep pulling the others back into a coherent line.
More, please, this is really interesting.
