The Others
They crawl in and out of my fingers,
slippery like yesterday�s notes.
Some walk daintily on my eggshell arms
some give me blue peas.
They remind me
of boats, charms and flowering pear trees.

But a few crinkle
and pucker lips, knees,
brows and stare.
I don�t look at them.
Oh no. Not at them.
They are too wise, too evil
And they try to baptise me with their hair.

I rose out of the water
weeds and snakes stuck to me
my groans creaked
fish bones
slick slippery pricked my eyes.

I only know music now
large rousing sounds cripple me
they wound wire-bands,
rings around me
and whipped me with silk.

rice grass. My mind lingers hazy
