Currently residing in Chennai, I am a student of Literature from Madras Christian College [BA final yr]. My tryst with poetry began some two-and-a-half years ago as a way of giving _expression_ to private emotions and feelings pent up inside...Today, poetry has become a part and parcel of my being and I am so engrossed in it that I am forced to give it serious consideration!
I have published my poems online, out of sheer curiosity to learn as to how people respond to it. You can find some of my poems at the following websites:

I prefer using my penname 'Vidyanjali' these days since it gives my poetic self a separate, individual identity...
Rabindranath Tagore's "Gitanjali" had a profound influence on me and I guess its influence is rather apparent in the themes that I handle. I am better off at writing poetry and to be frank do not read much of it, though, necessity compels me to do that at times. Poets cannot always 'invent' themes and styles, they do seek inspiration from other writers at times and I do that as well... :)
Other poets I have read and enjoyed include 'dreamy' Dickinson, 'winsome' Wordsworth, 'Inimitable' Ezekiel (Nissim) !! And many others of course...
