Reading Old Diaries
Moments, frozen in time,
Melt in the heat of memory
As I flip through old diaries.
A verse or two, broken or conjoined,
That had refused to follow the Muse
Appear awkwardly before me.
Some interesting tales, lying knotted,
Unwind, as the mists of passing time
Clear up, bit by bit.
These old impressions, inked and dried,
Stir some deeper life within life
And my past flutters through the pages.
But even before I realize, these moments elude.
And Im forced to remind the back-forth reeling mind
That the stubborn clock wont rewind
