But that won't solve the OP's problem, which was that OpenSolaris doesn't support his hardware. Nexenta has the same hardware limitations as OpenSolaris.

None.  Ubuntu doesn't officially support ZFS.

You can kind of make it work using the ZFS-FUSE project.  But it's not
stable, nor recommended.
