Since all filesystem would be shared via NFS, this clearly is a nogo :). Thanks!
On a different setup, we have about 750 datasets where we would like to use a single recursive snapshot, but when doing that all file access will be frozen for varying amounts of time
What version of ZFS are you using? Like Matthew Ahrens said: version 27 has a fix for this.
