Type of Position: Contract Duration: 3 Months Location: Richmond, Virginia *SQL Server Database Analyst - 3 month contract** **Richmond, VA* Provides technical support and expertise for Relational Database Management Systems on critical and highly complex financial systems. Performs database problem management, change management and maintenance working with both internal technical area’s as well as business area’s. Supports Financial Service applications which require efficient communication and organization skills. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Performs problem analysis and resolution for RDBMS software for complex configurations of critical databases maintaining data for critical, highly available, financial Relational Database Management systems. - Performs installation, configuration, customization, and tuning of Rational Database Management System software. - Perform project activities and provide technical assistance for assigned projects. - Provides answers to technical questions and problems in usage of RDBMS software and company standards and procedures. Required Skills/Experience · Requires a minimum of five years experience in Relational Database Administration and support of Oracle, SQL Server, or UDB/DB2. · Knowledge and experience with relational database architecture, database design, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, installation, customization, SQL programming and tuning. · Problem analysis, determination, resolution and consultation skills. · Database security knowledge, experience in implementation. · Strong analytical, innovation and organizational skills to resolve complex technical problems. · Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with management and vendors. This position works under minimal direction and guidance in planning details of established procedures and methods to attain definite objectives. It has responsibility for planning and performance with guidance or assistance on professional aspects of work. Subject matter handled can be sensitive and requires use of discretion. This position will require weekend and after hour work at times. The person filling the position will be expected to work hours as required. This position also requires the ability to be on call based on business requirements.
