Three "composers" wrote many of the hymns for the hymnal when there just weren't
enough LDS hymns to choose from. I consider these three composers to be "filler"
material. They are Ebenezer Beesley, Evan Stephens and George Careless. I know that
my opinion will offend some of the BIC Mormons, but it is a matter of musical taste.
And it isn't a matter of prejudice against LDS composers. Schreiner composed some of
the most beautiful hymns in the book, and Phelps authored some of the most beautiful
lyrics.

Again, it is just my personal taste. Your mileage may vary.
