US officials have given in to diplomatic entreaties and are treating foreign-born Canadians the same as natural-born Canadians. This after a number of incidents such as one where an Iranian born contract programmer enroute to a job in San Francisco, who moved to Canada as a young child, was delayed at US Customs, interrogated for over an hour (missing his flight) and finger-printed because he was born in a country "of concern" to US authorities: http://www.nationalpost.com/home/story.html?id={501D0630-91FA-451C-AC55-8EA067F9FE86}
The special attention will now be more reasonably limited to those who are either dual citizens of Canada and a Middle Eastern/North African country, or Canadian citizens born in those countries who are returning to Canada via a US port of entry from one of those countries. -- Marc A.
