Sucralose is the trade name for the stereoisomer of normal sucrose (table sugar). It tastes the same as regular sugar, but is not processed by the body. Your taste buds can't tell the difference (but perhaps your pocketbook can!). If I remember my organic chemistry correctly, table sugar is R-sucrose and Sucralose is L-sucrose.
