The poorest widows in the USA that I've known are still much more comfortable than the average middle class person in Calcutta! Mother Theresa came from a decent, middle class family, but forsake it all to work with the poor. She risked all manner of diseases (Typhoid, Tetanus, Malaria, Diphtheria, Yellow Fever, etc) as she went amongst the poorest in the city to aid them. You cannot imagine what true poverty is like, until you've gone to a truly poor country and spent time with the peoples there. The widow who gives her mite, is a righteous person, but she still hasn't given all of her time, talents, and energy to serve. And remember it was Christ who said that when we have done it unto one of the least of these, we've done it unto him.
