This is a refactoring of phunt's patch to separate the socket specific code
into subclasses of ClientCnxnSocket and make ClientCnxn concrete again. IMHO
this makes the code much more comprehendable.
I'm sorry, that eclipse made the patch a little larger then necessary. I've
turned the auto-reformatting off now, but I don't know any easy way to undo the
formatting changes.
