It has been so long since I used 7.5.5 regularly that I can't recall all the details and booting up my old PB165 wasn't much help as it uses an EN/SC for ethernet. But I seem to recall that the Macs with on-board ethernet needed the "Ethernet Built-in" extension to use the on board ethernet connection.
