Daniel, Thomas,

This issue was posted here by me in december last year, after experiencing
the problem that the database couldn't be restored using libt=349X.

I was told by the guru's in this list that this was the situation since TSM
3.7, but a APAR was being developed at the moment.
In order to do a database restore with the current releases, you need to
define a manual library.

I found it out the hard way, so i had to reinstall the TSM server code.

Hi

No Thomas, the dsmserv restore handles automated libraries, as long as the
devcnfg.out file exists, and that both drives and library are described in
this file.

Kirsten, is it the same machine HW you are trying to restore the database
to? If so, does both the volhist.out and the devcnfg.out exist in the right
directory?

If it is not the same machine, there might be a chance that the ID:s for
the drive/library is not the same as the old hardware. This is worth
checking out.

My best guess is that the devcnfg.out (device configuration) is not the
same as the actual configuration on the machine.

Best Regards

Hi Kirsten,

couldn't find message ANR8476E in the 4.2 Message Manual.
But it might be that RESTORE DB only supports manual libraries
like UNLOADDB?

Kind regards
