Hi Daniel, the devconfig file is allright. It's possible to restore the database with libtype=manual. There exists an APAR for this problem. We'll open a design change request.

Because the problem that is described in your mail looks like it cannot define the 3590 drive. This is probably because the devices in you machine (rmt0, rmt1 and so on) is not the same as in the devcnfg file. Do you have the possibility to send me the devcnfg.out file and volhist file? Would be easier to help you if I'm able to see these files. The volumehistory and devconfig files exist. It is possible to access the library without any changes with the restored database. thanks, Kirsten -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Sparrman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 1:15 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: AW: dsmserv restore db problem with 3494 libr Hi No Thomas, the dsmserv restore handles automated libraries, as long as the devcnfg.out file exists, and that both drives and library are described in this file. Kirsten, is it the same machine HW you are trying to restore the database to? If so, does both the volhist.out and the devcnfg.out exist in the right directory? If it is not the same machine, there might be a chance that the ID:s for the drive/library is not the same as the old hardware. This is worth checking out. My best guess is that the devcnfg.out (device configuration) is not the same as the actual configuration on the machine. But it might be that RESTORE DB only supports manual libraries like UNLOADDB?
