Hallo, please fix your mailing program to send plain text!
If I wasn't an HTML expert I wouldn't have understood what you wrote and couldn't have answered. Which do I > need, if any? I just want basic mono desktop sound, nothing fancy.<br> > </body> > </html> You need all packages except probably alsa-oss. alsa-driver contains the sorce code for the driver modules, alsa-lib contains common functions used by programs written for ALSA and alsa-utils contains invaluable tools like alsamixer, which you need to turn up the volume. If you really want to compile everything from source and not use your distribution's package, it is recommended that you look up your card in the ALSA soundcard matrix at http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/ and then follow the instructins behind the "Details" link. They also mention which package to use and how to do that. I hope this can help you. ciao -- Frank Barknecht _ ______footils.org__ ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
