100% I agreement with you. That is why I suggested this approach since it
is simple and might help further diagnose the problem.

It's just an easy thing to try, Ralf. If the card works under this scenario
too then some info is gained. If the card doesn't work, then only a minute
has been lost but the idea that Pulse is the culprit is a little less
believable.

Seems to me that going to the effort of trying to remove Pulse is a bit
premature, as you note below.

My point exactly.
The OP is in an difficult situation. He wants to do a bunch of things; he
isn't completely sure how as yet, because he can't get the most basic thing
working.
