Passing this on as a public service from other lists where it has
come up:
The host www.dsbl.org is having hardware issues, and the ISP that
gave it free hosting has seen enough internal changes that the staff
who made the arrangements are no longer there to help out.
So, as of early AM (US/Eastern) Monday, www.dsbl.org is down and the
RBL is not getting updated. While the DNS servers appear to be still up
and running, the data is getting somewhat stale, and this may get
worse over time.
The dsbl.org lists might ultimately be shut down and not return. If
they do return, it won't be for some time - they would need new
high-end hosting, and the maintainer is seeking a replacement. (They
currently sustain upwards of 300Mb/sec worth of DNS queries.)
If you use DSBL in your mailserver, you may want to consider
adjusting your configurations so you're no longer querying them.
If you use DSBL via SpamAssassin queries, you may want to consider
adjusting those rules so they're not getting hit.
Right now querying it does not seriously hurt your performance, but
if it goes stale or they have to shut the service down suddenly, it
could become an issue.
