With just five weeks to go to OOoCon in Barcelona, time is running out to
register for OOoCon and snap up those last-minute travel bargains to this
popular tourist destination. Already nearly five hundred people have
registered for the three day event, which thanks to the generosity of our
sponsors will be the biggest conference in OpenOffice.org's history:

If you have not yet decided to attend, the conference programme and
abstracts of the conference sessions are available online to whet your
appetite:

Highlights this year include keynotes from Louis Suarez-Potts and Hu Cai
Yong. Louis Suarez-Potts, Community Manager for OpenOffice.org at Sun
Microsystems, will present a paper about "OpenOffice.org 3.0 and beyond".
Hu Cai Yong is CEO of the Community's newest major corporate sponsor,
Redflag CH2000, and will be challenging delegates to think truly global:
"designing good applications for the citizens of the world means thinking
beyond technology".

An innovation this year is an "ODF Camp" organized by the OASIS ODF
Adoption Committee to run in parallel with OOoCon on Thursday 20th. This
will be a 'hands-on' session for developers working on ODF (OpenDocument
Format) who are interested in identifying and resolving differences among
key implementations of the ODF, especially as they relate to text
processing. Although ODF is an independent open standard implemented in a
number of applications, it is also the format used by OpenOffice.org, and
so there is a wide overlap of interest between the OOo and ODF
communities:

Registration for OOoCon is optional, but it is enormously helpful for the
organisers in planning a smooth-running OOoCon. If you are undecided about
attending, please visit the OOoCon website; if you are attending and
haven't yet registered please do so today:
