Hi,

I'm testing different qualifiers and keys in GFF files, but I get
strange error messages when I try to open them in Artemis (possibly
because of my limited experience with the GFF format). The GFF file I
made look like:

Test_0001       Glimmer3        CDS     421     1479    .       +       .
transl_table=11;locus_tag=Test_0001;gene=dnaA;product=Chromosomal
replication initiator protein dnaA
Test_R0001      Glimmer3        tmRNA   1469    2047    .       +       .
locus_tag=Test_R0001;gene=ssrA;product=RNA
ssrA (tmRNA)
Test_0002       Glimmer3        CDS     2081    3220    .       +       .
transl_table=11;locus_tag=Test_0002;product=predicted
ORF
Test_R0002      Glimmer3        tRNA    3210    3929    .       +       .
locus_tag=Test_R0002;product=tRNA-Ala
Test_0003       Glimmer3        CDS     4310    4510    .       -       .
transl_table=11;locus_tag=Test_0003;gene=swrA;product=pSwarming
motility protein swrA
Test_R0003      Glimmer3        rRNA    4532    4732    .       +       .
locus_tag=Test_R0003;gene=rrf;product=5S
ribosomal RNA

And the error messages I get are:

tmRNA is not a valid key
tRNA can't have a locus_tag as qualifier
rRNA can't have a gene as qualifier

The later two warnings still seem to pass through, but it refuses to
accept tmRNA as a valid key, which I don't understand?

Regards,

Stefanie Lager
