The Asterisk Development Team is pleased to announce the second release
candidate of Asterisk 1.6.1, tagged as version 1.6.1.0-rc2. Release candidate
1.6.1.0-rc2 is available for immediate download at http://downloads.digium.com/

In addition to other bug fixes, this release candidate adds architecture
improvements for stability, performance, and code maintainability of chan_sip.
Because of these changes, particular attention should be applied to the testing
of chan_sip. Of course wider general testing of the code base is encouraged and
appreciated!

Issues found in this release candidate can be reported at
http://bugs.digium.com/.

Also of note is that previous dot zero versions of the 1.6.x branches had been
released without a trailing dot zero. This release addresses that.

For a full list of changes in this release candidate, please see the
ChangeLog:

Also see the CHANGES file for useful information about what is new in Asterisk
1.6.1. See the CHANGES file at:

Thank you for your continued support of Asterisk!
