Have you taken a look at this link? https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/UpgradeBBDB It's only the bare minimum of information, but if you start trying to sort things out using BBDB v3, and things go wrong, this page can often be useful. Also, people don't often realize that the README in the codebase, and the code comments themselves, are actually fairly clear and informative.
