Tom,

When you download a talking book file, it will be named something like this:

BookTitle.zip

Your digital talking book machine cannot process that file!

Files with the .zip extension are made up of one or more files which have been
compressed into a single file to save memory space on your computer's hard
drive and to expedite the file transfer process over the internet.

The .zip file must be decompressed into its several files within a folder which
is named similarly to the name of the .zip file from which it is decompressed.

After the decompression has been accomplished, you can copy that new folder to
your clipboard and then paste it from the clipboard onto your digital cartridge
for playing by your digital talking book machine.

It is your responsibility to know what program to use to decompress .zip files.

It is also your responsibility to know where the new folder and its files can
be found after the decompression process has been completed.

If your file decompression program enables you to designate the destination of
the decompressed files, you might designate the digital cartridge and thus
avoid the need to copy and paste the decompressed folder and files from your
hard drive to the digital cartridge.

hth

Bob

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Save as...NLS digital books

Hi,
I’m trying to learn what and how to do what is needed to put a
saved/downloaded NLS digital audio book, on a digital cartrige. Friends are
telling me to open the folder with my downloaded books (in my documents), and
then go to File, and select Save as, (I know about F12, but nothing happens
when I hit it), and there’s no Save as when I open File (alt + F), so I can’t
select where to move the file. Any one know what I need to do, since there has
to be a way. I’m speculating it’s due to it being a digital book, but since I’m
lost, any one got an answer? I use Windows 7. Tom .
