Patch #5 has been updated. Project: Category: None Status: Deleted Summary: Let grub read geometry from boot sector
Follow-Ups: Date: 2001-Mar-30 12:02 By: jochen Comment: This patch adds an option "--force-bpb" to the commands install and setup. This option sets a flag in the boot sector to tell grub that it should read the geometry from this sector instead of asking the bios. This patch is necessary for me to boot from Zip-Disks, but may have other uses as well. Problems: Grub currently doesn't write a valid geometry, you have to do it yourself. I use standard DOS format so if you can format the disk with mformat to do this. This patch is not thoroughly tested. If you use it let me know. ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2001-Sep-21 20:25 By: taral Comment: Unfortunately the patch is rather garbage here. Please upload an uncompressed version. ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2001-Sep-24 08:55 By: jochen Comment: I uploaded an uncompressed and updated patch. ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2002-May-27 17:17 By: okuji Comment: I delete this patch, because Thierry's new stage1 patch contains the same (or better) feature. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- For more info, visit: http://savannah.gnu.org/patch/?func=detailpatch&patch_id=5&group_id=68 _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
