Here are the details

1> I executed cfdisk as "cfdisk /dev/sda"

and make /dev/sda1 non-bootable.
then try to boot using qemu and it gives error

FATAL INIT 18 BOOT FAILURE
`````````````````````````````````````````````

2> Then I again executed cfdisk and make /dev/sda1 boot-able.
This time qemu reports

NON system disk or disk error
