Thanks for the response Steve, Just to rule out all possible causes to the issue I did go ahead and re-download 2.3.4 into ~/downloads (on a headless server). I executed ~/downloads/cakephp/app/Console/cake bake and it resulted in *: No such file or directohpry*.
I also tried apt-get install cakep and it did in fact add cake to /usr/bin but a I am still greeted with *: No such file or directory *when executing "cake bake."
