RED-NECKED GREBE BLACK SCOTER PURPLE SANDPIPER GOLDEN EAGLE NORTHERN GOSHAWK ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK SANDHILL CRANE CAVE SWALLOW BOHEMIAN WAXWING SUMMER TANAGER EASTERN TOWHEE EVENING GROSBEAK PINE SISKIN Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 11/14: Up to 20 SANDHILL CRANES were seen most of the week at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. Also of interest were a hybrid ROSS’S/SNOW GOOSE and a ROSS’S/BLUE PHASE SNOW GOOSE seen on the 14th. at Knox-Marcellus. Cortland County ------------ 11/9: A FEMALE SUMMER TANAGER was reported at a feeder in McGraw near the intersection of Highland and Gothic Streets. As of today (15th.) the bird is still frequenting the feeder. The home owner, Bill Toner, welcomes birders to observe. Use your best judgment in finding viewing locations. Oswego County ------------ 11/9: A late EASTERN TOWHEE was seen at a feeder in Constantia on Oneida Lake. 11/13: A BOHEMIAN WAXWING was seen in a large flock at Derby Hill. 11/14: 6 raptor species including 2 NORTHERN GOSHAWKS and 6 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were seen in a small flight at Derby Hill. Also seen were 2 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS and a single CAVE SWALLOW. Onondaga County ------------ 11/10: 20 BLACK SCOTERS and 7 RED-NECKED GREBES were seen on Onondaga Lake near the mouth of Nine Mile Creek. Cayuga County ------------ 11/11: The seasons first PURPLE SANDPIPER was found at Fairhaven State Park in its usual place on the south side of the east breakwall. It was seen again the next day on the west side of the outlet but was not seen in the days following.
