Hey All,

I am forwarding part of an email from a friend who lives in the Tug Hill
area. Anyone have any advice for her. You can respond to her off list, I
have copied her here so her email is available.

Hi Linda, We have four bird boxes out for bluebirds and tree swallows, and
I noticed something hanging out of the birdbox the other a.m, (while on the
way to the woods to bird). It was a bird wing, and there were two dead
swallows in the box. Why???? Would racoons do this...?? We are aware we
have them as they get into the garden. We have the boxes mounted on the
flat metal fence posts. Bob has some metal poles. If it's racoons would
this give them more of a challenge? How high off the ground should we then
mount the boxes, as the poles are a lot longer. Is there anything ultra
slippery I could paint the poles with? We tried the haveaheart traps and
instead of a racoon several years ago, ended up with a skunk so didn't
pursue that anymore.

Thanks in advance.

Linda
