GREAT EGRET PEREGRINE FALCON SANDHILL CRANE DUNLIN SANDERLING STILT SANDPIPER SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER WILSON’S PHALAROPE LITTLE GULL YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO RED-HEADED WOODPECKER RED CROSSBILL Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 8/15: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen near the Seneca Spillway. 8/17: 67 GREAT EGRETS were counted coming to roost at Knox-Marsellus Marsh and Mays Point Pool. 28 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were counted in Puddler’s Marsh. 8 DUNLIN were seen at May’s Point pool 8/19: 11 species of shorebirds were seen at Puddler’s Marsh including SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and STILT SANDPIPER. 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at the Main Pool.10 species of shorebirds and 20 GREAT EGRETS were found at May’s Point Pool. 8/21: 2 WILSON’S PHALAROPE’S were seen at the Visitor’s Center. Oneida County ------------- 8/16: A LITTLE GULL was relocated at Sylvan Beach near 13th. Street in with Bonaparte’s Gulls. 4 SANDERLING were present also. The LITTLE GULL was last reported on 8/20. Oswego County ------------ 8/16: A RED CROSSBILL was found on North Church Road in Boylston. 11 species of Warblers, all local breeders, were found also. Jefferson County ------------ 8/17: 3 SANDHILL CRANES were spotted on Rt.193 east of Southwick Beach state Park. Cayuga County ------------ 8/19: 3 SANDERLINGS and 1 juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER were found at Fair Haven State Park.
