My quest for Common Merganser merglings has finally paid off: from Myers Park
this morning I observed a female with nine ducklings resting on a log at the
mouth of Salmon Creek. They then swam off into the lake and round to the north
reaching the Salt Point boat launch. But by the time I got myself over there
they had disappeared and I could not relocate them. But I did get some distant
shots at first and below is the link to one of them (full disclosure:
substantial crop and distracting sticks removed from the background)

Hope to get many more opportunities in the coming days.

Other Salt Pt delights were:

Willow Flycatcher building a nest
So many Baltimore Orioles singing!
Orchard Orioles singing
Belted Kingfisher (male and female separately) seen several times carrying fish
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers buzzing
Cedar Waxwings gathering nest material

Also checked Stewart Park but no merglings there yet that I could see.
