In some places where little else grows it is an erosion guard; I am thinking of the steep hillside between Incodema and the children's garden south of Cass Park.

Suggestions would be appreciated. http://www.nyis.info/index.php?action=invasive_detail&id=71 Nancy Cayuga Dog Rescue has saved more than 555! dogs since 2005!
