That's quite a defeat for your Linux installation. It seems as if it blocks or alters the preparation for writing. > Any suggestions on where to go from here? Not easy to say. Maybe you install the very newest kernel and try again. You tried this all as superuser, too ? (Sorry if i forgot such info from previous posts) Next would be possibly a request for advise at mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] or even a short appearance on the LKML mailing list. (The latter is rough territory.) Facts appear to be: - SCSI command MODE SELECT fails to transmit write parameters page 05h to DVD-R 5 26 00 = INVALID FIELD IN PARAMETER LIST - SCSI command FORMAT UNIT fails to start formatting a not yet thoroughly formatted DVD+RW 5 24 00 = INVALID FIELD IN CDB Both gestures are indispensible for the affected media and they do work on the vast majority of Linux systems. Well, good luck. Keep us informed. Ask us for help if SCSI (MMC) issues are involved. Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
