did you try the openLdap win32 port? It should be pretty good in terms
of features, and will at least support the basic LDAP feature set. If
you wanted to go beyond that it would probably end up being
vendor-specific anyways.

Also, you might want to look into JLDAP on the client side. Just the
other day we ran some tests with CFLDAP searching our entire
directory... it often timed out or returned no rows. Our JLDAP
alternative was fast and consistent. I've got nothing but good things to
say about that API, and I've only found 2 or so methods that are
uncallable from CF.

Yes I think AD requires a win32 server edition.

Dave,

You are right... should have looked more... and were my life an endless

clock that would be possible. <grin> My thoughts were to acquire
something someone else had tested though... so if I run into coding
problems I do not waste additional time with a solution that doesn't
work. Learning LDAP in CF requires a solid functional server to connect

to. I have actually tried a couple of servers only to find out they "do

ldap"... but, and but and but... which doesn't help for software
design.
I wanted something "real"... something another CFer had tested.

Also... I was under the impression you could not do ActiveDirectory on

Windows XP... doesn't that require a Windows Server (2000 or above?).
