This may seem elementary, but your original post mentions custom tag path. How are you calling CFC? check your cfinvoke or cfobject tag and verify the path. Unless you are using .cfm custom tag, then you call it from the cfx_ , or am I wrong on both counts?

I had two directories containing different versions of the same CFCs (current site and re-design) in my Custom Tag path. This caused some confusion, so I deleted one of them, and CF is still pulling one particular CFC from the deleted path! Additionally, I am getting all sorts of errors of "incorrect type" which I am assuming is being caused by CF looking for files in the wrong place. At this point, I am beginning to think I should just delete and reinstall ColdFusion, but since I have an Intel Mac it is a bit of a process. Any help would be appreciated.
