One change by request from several of us is that Guilford and 31st will
continue to have a 4 way stop.

‘not exactly gossip…  but do you know about the proposed\future Guilford Ave
Bicycle Boulevard?  See below from Nate Evans ( nate.ev...@baltimorecity.gov ),

Hope all’s grand,

Good Afternoon Everyone,

As the Guilford Avenue Bicycle Boulevard project nears final design, I wanted
to let you know how this project would affect the street.  No parking spaces
were eliminated with this project and the overall nature of Guilford Ave will
remain as it is - a quiet, residential street.  The planned improvements will
discourage through traffic and reduce traffic speed without altering access for
local residents.

The planned improvements include:

1.       "Sharrows" added along the length of Guilford Avenue from

University Pkwy to Mt. Royal Ave, where the project will meet Phase 2 of the
Jones Falls Trail.

2.       Mini circles will replace 4 way stops at 22nd St, 24th St and 32nd

St.  Community input played a vital role in helping DOT determine where the
mini-circles were needed to improve safety and security.

3.       A stop sign has been added to 20th St at Guilford Ave, just north

of the school headquarters

4.       27th & 31st St. intersections reduced from a 4 way to 2 way stop

5.       Bike & emergency vehicle friendly speed humps on the 2600 block and

2700 block of Guilford

6.       Curb extensions on the southwest corner of North Ave & Guilford to

provide for better bike & pedestrian protection

7.       Widening the median crossing at North Ave from 6' to 12'.  While

two separate crossings for pedestrians and bicycles were preferred, the
location of signal poles prevented this option.

8.       Green sharrows on approaches to 33rd St crossing and green bike

lanes on the 33rd St median crossing.

9.       Wayfinding signs indicating destination, distance and direction

10.  A white pavement marking to delineate the on-street parking from travel
lanes

Our consultants at Toole Design Group are putting together a map to help
illustrate these improvements.  I would like to meet after the New Year to give
you a preview of the project.  If you have any questions in the meantime,
please let me know.

Happy Holidays,

Nate
