The problem is that Debian packages should never popup such messages. People, who like such crap, should switch to Windows Vista. No other Debian package I know does popup news and I see no reason why cinelerra should be different. If the packager wants to spread news, he can offer an RSS feed or whatever. Of course packagers can do, what they want and I don't really care (I compile stuff myself if I need to). But I uninstalled the complete akirad packages for the same reason.
