Even the most liberal license proposal I've seen from Sun regarding their
Java class libraries requires that commerical users pay a license fee.  It
does not meet the requirements of free software at this time.  Additionally,
Sun is likely to explicitly require that any changes remain 100% compatible
with their Java Compatibility Kit.  While we wish to keep our code 100%
compatible, other people might have different needs and might wish to make
incompatible changes.  They should have the freedom to do so.

I have not heard anyone on this list say that they wish to cease working
because of what Sun has done.  I personally remain committed to the project.

BTW pohl, I don't know if you subscribe to our mailing list or not, but I
expect that we will have a first public release of Classpath that works with
Japhar sometime soon after the first of the year.
