I was mistaken and the eidogo codebase includes a self-described "quick and dirty SGF parser" that outputs to JSON

However the output does not conform to, or provide the benefits that a new JSON Game Format would offer.

Even if that were true, which I don't believe, it would take forever
to get any traction against the millions of games and hundreds of
programs already using sgf format.

A good viewer with a url-compatible language to specify views is
a much more reasonable goal; the underlying sgf format is fine.
