OK, so I didn't wait for urpmi to complete before I asked the question.
I see that the original package is k3b, not libk3b, and that the conflict is with
one file.
  /usr/lib/libk3bcore.so.1.0.0

Still, the question remains
what is the correct resolution here? Force installation of libk3b?
