Ok, /var/lib/courier/ contains the directories: allfilters, couriersslcache,
filters, msgq, msgs, tmp and track.

I assume msgq is where I need to be checking for the messages? At the moment
it just contains 14 empty directories with names like 126264.

The messages seem to come in bursts. I got a load on Dec 27 and again last
night but nothing in between. Presumably I will now have to wait till I get
another load to read them while they are on the queue?

Thanks for your help.
