Silent Invasion

The Silent Invasion
By Scott Gulbransen
Counting Coup Press, Inc.

In November 1998, while traveling through Texas, I heard some disturbing rumors. People were supposedly seeing Chinese soldiers in the Mexican desert. At least one Texan decided to go down and look for himself. He didn't make it back alive. Then came a curious story, forwarded to me by the editor of a national publication. A woman in Texas reported that her relatives had warned against returning to the family's ranch in Mexico. Foreign soldiers were said to be there. It wouldn't be safe coming in contact with them. When she traveled to Mexico and met with her relatives the woman learned that the strangers were Asians who were preparing to attack the United States.

Scott Gulbransen is a writer who went to Mexico and talked with people about Chinese troops. He collected stories from border patrol officers, from Mexican policemen, fishermen and others. The testimony he gathered suggests that a military supply operation is underway in Mexico. Here are the main points:

(1) China is pumping arms, ammunition, men and uniforms into Baja California through the port of Ensanada. "The fishermen of Ensanada know something is going on," says Gulbransen. "They've seen it with their own eyes. But no one listens to poor fishermen. They're dirty drunks who smell like the fish they catch. They might be the first to witness the Chinese move on the United States but no one will listen."

(2) Communist bloc troops are in Mexico. There are small military encampments in the Mexican desert where troops from various communist countries are based. Judging by the rifle ammunition used, these are highly trained special troops from Cuba, North Korea, China and possibly Russia. They appear to operate in mixed groups (ethnically combined). According to witnesses, Mexican officials receive cash bribes for helping to maintain and conceal these troops. Anyone who threatens to expose the operation faces death.

(3) Chinese military supplies are being smuggled into the United States. According to border patrol officers, U.S. officials are allowing trucks from Mexico carrying Chinese ammunition to pass the border without question. This only makes sense if officials responsible for the border are in the pay of Red China. Border patrol officers who've tried to blow the whistle have been frightened into silence. One officer died in a suspicious car accident after telling Gulbransen that she feared for her life. At one border crossing alone, 30 to 40 trucks loaded with Chinese military supplies were entering the United States per day. It would appear that the Chinese are setting up ammunition dumps for troops or insurgents throughout the Southwest.

(4) Communist guerrillas in Mexico expect that the United States will soon be brought to its knees. "I am the leader of the La Conquidistas," a Mexican guerrilla told Gulbransen. The plan is to take Mexico from the "imperialist pigs of the U.S. that hold the Mexican people in poverty." The guerrilla chief added that "Fidel Castro is the only brave man to stand up to you." When Gulbransen suggested the Conquidistas needed more than AK-47s to fight the United States, the chief explained that the Mexican people are resourceful. And besides this, Mexico has "friends throughout the world who would help us." As Gulbransen was leaving the secret meeting place, the guerrilla boss said: "You tell the fat Americans about the real Mexico. You tell them their day to pay is coming fast. Coming very fast."

There are further details in this story, but readers will have to purchase Gulbransen's book and learn for themselves. The web site for ordering the book is http://www.thesilentinvasion.com/. To the author's credit, the book resists exaggeration while relating details that are, quite frankly, incredible. I find myself asking why anyone would make this sort of thing up? After all, nearly everyone is going to sneer. Experts would insist that Chinese, North Korean and Cuban troops would never be able too work together in a place like Mexico. And they certainly wouldn't be able to operate under our noses in secrecy. Given the readiness of the public to dismiss the very idea of an invasion of the United States, Gulbransen's book faces major obstacles. So why did he write it? It is my impression, from corresponding with the author, that he sincerely believes the Chinese are preparing a strike force in Mexico. In fact, Gulbransen says that someone is trying to intimidate him. He  is being followed. He is being watched. Here is what he wrote to me on the subject:

I've been followed, bumped (with a car) and these cars have also 'cased' my house.  They're always the same car -- Ford Taurus sedans. Different colors but always the same.

When they bump me, it's usually from behind at a stop light. I get out to exchange insurance, and they take off. Once, the driver (always white males 25-35) told me I am lucky I didn't get killed and then sped off.  I've reported them to local police and the tags are always "retired."  The casing of my house I've also reported and each time the police never do a thing.

I've also been followed on foot when I am in New York and also several times shopping with my family. Always [it is] the same "looking" white male who follows me enough to make it known. Almost like they want me to know and be scared ... which I am not.

I also have been approached by attractive women ... who flirt ( I am married with two kids) and say cryptic things like "You look like you're a safe person..." or "Be careful not to get hurt..." These all come out of thin air and have no context.

As some readers no doubt realize, Gulbransen's information supports my own assertion that the communist world is preparing a military offensive against the United States. That doesn't mean I'm going to immediately believe everything he says. I would like to see some clearer evidence on this.
How do we verify Gulbransen's information?

Addendum
to the silent invasion thesis

By J.R. Nyquist

In trying to evaluate Scott Gulbransen's allegations about Chinese troops in Mexico, I decided to consult an expert on the border, Mr. John Carmen (see http://www.customscorruption.com/). With over 25-years of experience in law enforcement, including time spent in the San Diego Police Department, U.S. Mint Police, U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Customs, Carmen is a genuine whistleblower with knowledge of border service corruption. He has heard the stories of Chinese troops in Mexico. But whenever he asks for hard evidence, like photographs, nothing turns up.

Carmen has his own explanation for the sightings. He says the Mexican Army recruits from the poorest Indian villages. As these are non-European people, they can appear Chinese from a distance. In addition, their speech is not always Spanish and would be unfamiliar to American border officials.

I then asked him another question: Are the Chinese smuggling contraband through the port of Ensanada to the Otay Mesa border check point? Carmen had no doubt that many things were being smuggled across the border every day. "There is serious corruption," he explained.  "If you report it at the regional level, then at the national level, and nothing happens then you know that the it goes all the way up."

Could a terrorist group allied with a criminal cartel smuggle nuclear weapons into the United States?

Explaining the kind of operation it would have to be, with all the right people paid off, Carmen said, "You're going to be guaranteed of getting through." He added, "They don't really search the trains any longer. I doubt if even one in fifty boxcars have been inspected. The boats are a joke. They do tunnels all the time. They're doing two percent inspections nationwide -- they're not checking enough containers!"

The situation is not good, Carmen admitted, "And nobody wants to hear that its a lot worse." He pointed to managers involved in smuggling. "Certain people need to be investigated," he said. "But it's not happening. Look at the inspectors. Some guy is old, tired, fed up, sucking fumes out there, and one day he might take a bribe. And they do take bribes."

Once someone at a key checkpoint takes a bribe, the crooks own him. In that event, the United States of America loses control of its border. It falls to criminals with cash. And who knows what the loyalties or secret alliances of these criminals might be? "If you take their money," Carmen noted, "you belong to them."

How high does the corruption on the border go? Carmen says it goes to Washington, even to the White House. "I'm very adamant about the fact of corruption at the top. The people that run this country know exactly what they're doing," he explained. The border traffic is an enormous source of revenue, and the payoffs run in every direction. Perhaps more damning than corruption, however, is the bungling of the U.S. authorities. "Our government is incompetent," he stated flatly.

In an age of mass destruction weapons, with an intelligence service that cannot find Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, a case can be made for incompetence. Highly destructive weapons might already be sitting inside the United States, or in Mexico, ready to use.

John Carmen's testimony is disturbing. The sad fact is, Washington has turned a deaf ear to his warnings about border security.
