Hillary Unveils Expensive Economic Plan

In front of a rain-soaked but enthusiastic crowd of supporters in
central New York, Hillary Clinton presented her economic plan for
the state, calling it "an agenda of equal opportunity."
According to Syracuse Online, the Democratic U.S. Senate
candidate spoke for about 20 minutes Sunday at Central Park in
Van Buren as a part of her five-day tour through New York to
promote her "New Jobs for New York" plan. A focus of her speech
was how high taxes and utility costs are crippling the region's
economy. Clinton said her plan would promote tourism in the area,
lower utility costs and make air and rail transportation more
affordable. Strengthening the region's agricultural markets is
also a priority in Clinton's plan.
"We're already too dependent on foreign oil," Clinton said. "I
certainly don't want to be dependent on foreign food."
Regarding America's foreign oil dependency and increasing fuel
prices, Clinton proposed creating a Northeastern reserve, a plan
her opponent, Rep. Rick Lazio, R-Long Island, supports as well.
She also proposed expanding a federal investigation of oil
company profits.
Other than a mention of her differences with Lazio regarding oil
and gas prices, Clinton said little about the congressman,
Syracuse Online reported.
"Technology Bonds," which would be used by local governments to
help bolster high-speed Internet connections and strengthen
businesses, are also a part of Clinton's economic plan. These
proposed bonds would cost taxpayers $100 million a year.
Clinton also discussed issues outside her New York plan,
including lowering prescription drug prices. In a news
conference after her speech, she said the United States should
allow into the country drugs that have been made in Canada and
approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to cut down
consumer costs. After the speech, many who attended were able to
speak with Clinton before she left for her next appointment in
Brace.
