Many Jews are atheists. In America, less than half of all Jews are
observant. It is inaccurate and misleading to confuse the religion with
the People as a whole. Some are religious and some aren't. Even among
observant Jews there is dissension about what is and is not valid dogma.
In this they resemble Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Communists. It
gets even more confusing when you factor in that a person can convert to
the religion without having been born into the culture. Then there's the
whole matter of the Samaritans.
But as confusing as all this is, we must be specific and exact when we
talk about "what Jews believe" or else we're talking nonsense.
