PsyOp Ties and Lies: Art Bell, Thomas O. Hicks & G.W. Bush

Art Bell at Chancellor Broadcasting
>From the Talkwire Website:

Art's Bio: Born June 17th, 1945, the son of a Marine Colonel father and a
Drill Sergeant mother. By the age of 13, Art was an FCC licensed radio
technician. He served in the US Air Force, after which he spent years on the
island of Okinawa, living a Japanese lifestyle and working for KSBK. After
studying engineering at the University of Maryland, Art got work at various
stations in America as a board operator and chief engineer. This led to many
opportunities to do on-air work, including his first job as a talk host on
KENI in Anchorage, and even to doing a stint in Tijuana, Mexico, driving
over the border everyday to "talk back" to U.S. from the giant XTRA. As
Chief Engineer for Times Mirror in Las Vegas, Art's love of broadcasting
persisted, and before long Art was back on a microphone. When the 50
thousand watt giant in Las Vegas, KDWN, offered him the chance to broadcast
all night to 13 Western states, he grabbed the opportunity and never looked
back. Later, Art was syndicated through CHANCELLOR BROADCASTING and Coast to
Coast AM became the top overnight talk show host in the nation. In 1999,
Art Bell left the airwaves for a few months in a veil of mystery and
speculation. He was not abducted by aliens, he took time off the air to
help his son and family through a tough personal crisis. Art lives in the
high desert with his wife Ramona and their cats.

Tit for tat?
How the Texas brothers who secretly funded attack ads against McCain have
made millions managing state money under the Bush administration in Austin.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Joe Conason
It's now been documented that Texas tycoons Sam and Charles Wyly, who
emerged late last week as the secret financers of a television blitz
attacking Sen. John McCain's environmental record, have put their wealth at
the disposal of Gov. George W. Bush. In addition to buying those $2.5
million "independent expenditure" commercials, which aired in New York,
California and Ohio under the sponsorship of the so-called "Republicans for
Clean Air," Charles Wyly is a Bush Pioneer, which means he has raised at
least $100,000 for the governor's presidential campaign. Moreover, since
1994 the brothers have given more than $200,000 to Bush's two gubernatorial
campaigns.
Omitted in much of the uproar over the Wyly connection, however, is the
little-noticed fact that a lot of public money has been entrusted to the
care of the billionaire brothers by Bush appointees at the University of
Texas since 1998.
That year, the university's financial managers invested $90 million with
Maverick Capital Fund, a Dallas-based investment firm founded and controlled
by the Wylys. In addition to a substantial share of whatever profits are
earned from the investments, the deal awards the Wyly firm almost $1 million
annually in fees.
That highly profitable transaction with the Wylys was made possible by the
University of Texas Investment Management Company, known as UTIMCO, the
financial arm of the state university system. Since the management of the
university's assets was privatized by Bush and the Texas legislature in 1995
at the behest of another wealthy contributor and investment banker named
THOMAS O. HICKS, UTIMCO has been criticized in the Texas press for its
secretive way of conducting business and for its seeming favoritism toward
Republican contributors and friends of the UTIMCO board of directors .

How George W. Bush Scored Big
With the Texas Rangers

By Charles Lewis
and the Center for Public Integrity

After he became governor of Texas, Bush put his all of his assets into a
blind trust, with one notable exception: his stake in the Rangers. Schieffer
kept Bush apprised of the owner's efforts to sell the team to THOMAS O.
HICKS, the chairman of Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst, Inc., a firm that
specializes in leveraged buyouts and until recently owned AMFM, Inc., the
nationís largest chain of radio stations. HICKS and employees of his
companies are Bush's No. 4 career patron, having given him at least
$290,400 .
